The Director of Development and Marketing is responsible for the creation of a diverse and comprehensive fundraising and marketing strategic campaigns for this multi-phased not-for-profit organization. The position is a key member of the management team and reports directly to the CEO. Along with the development and marketing/public relations direction of the organization, supervision of staff and general contributions to support the management of Familylinks are critical functions of the position. Besides the Director of Development the department currently is comprised of three additional full time staff, a Development and PR Specialist, a Development Specialist and a Grants Manager. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Direct and oversee a comprehensive fundraising and marketing plan for Familylinks including, but not limited to, an annual giving campaign, grant writing, special events, planned giving, United Way Contributor Choice funding and any other fund projects, etc.
Establish annual development giving goals and initiate the annual giving campaign including monitoring progress of the development campaigns.
Identify, cultivate and solicit prospective donors including major gifts donors.
Develop, organize, coordinate and publicize events especially Familylinks signature events.
Develop and implement a marketing/public relations plan involving various external resources and Familylinks, including, but not limited to the website, brochures, newsletters, speakers bureau, video, television news and media coordination.
Continue to grow the social media presence for Familylinks including updates.
Facilitate volunteer opportunities within fundraising activities.
Oversee corporate, governmental and foundation grant proposals as designated and monitor funding deadlines.
Review, develop and implement donor recognition vehicles, including an annual report.
Oversee along with the Foundation Board the Familylinks endowment.
Research and initiate a future planned giving campaign.
Research to develop with best practices a future capital campaign along with initiating the capital campaign either as an internal project or use of an outside consultant.
Oversee all gift tracking procedures, including the maintenance and enhancement of the development information systems.
Supervise the staff of the Development department.
Prepare all necessary reports for the CEO, Board of Directors and various funding sources, etc.
Continue to cultivate and increase the Advisory Committee membership of Familylinks.
Coordinate with various Program Managers and staff to support development-related volunteer activities for events and projects.
Support and liaison to the CEO and the various Board of Directors including the operating Board of Directors and the Familylinks Foundation Board of Directors as assigned.
Provide best practices for the development and public relations responsibilities for the organization.
Serve as a member of the Leadership team and work collaboratively with the other Directors and Senior Directors of Familylinks.
Attend all meetings, trainings and supervisions as assigned.
Special projects as assigned by the CEO.
Must be able to work the hours necessary to complete the work.
Must be able to work and travel to the various Familylinks offices in the Pittsburgh, PA area.
Position Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field with a Master’s degree preferred. A minimum of 5 – 7 years experiences developing successful fundraising campaigns including, annual giving campaigns, event planning, grant and foundation solicitations, is required.
Capital campaign experience is a plus.
Proven track record of success as a key member of management, including working successfully with Boards of Directors.
Not-for-profit background experiences a plus.
Ability to engage and motivate various volunteer committees.
Supervisory experiences required.
Experience with endowment and planned giving campaigns preferred.
CFRE certification preferred.
Presentation skills along with professional behaviors, attitude and appearance.
Strong computer skills including familiarity with Raiser’s Edge development software.
Excellent written, presentation and verbal skills.
Self-directed, flexible with strong problem-solving abilities.
