Murray State University is currently accepting applications for a 10-month Marketing Internship position. The appointment will be August 2017- May 2018 (one academic year, with annual review and option to renew appointment for following academic year). Screening of application materials will begin immediately.POSITION SUMMARYPrimary marketing and promotions coordinator for Soccer, Women’s Basketball, Baseball and assist with Men’s Basketball and Football. This position will be in charge of developing/updating scripts, in-game promotions, marketing plans, and serve as public address announcer for non-revenue sports. The assistant will serve as the athletic department liaison to other game management and university personnel. RESPONSIBILITES1.Assist in Game-day event set-up and breakdown for all sports and assist with athletic special events as needed2.Assist with development of game day count-down schedules and game scripts for use by the game officials, public address announcer, teams, and other official personnel. Maintain a file for all game management materials. 3.Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive marketing plan (Soccer/ Women’s Basketball & Baseball) at Murray State University to reach internal (on-campus) and external (off-campus) constituents through the use of radio, television, electronic billboard and print advertising as well as the distribution of schedule cards, posters, internet and game day announcements.4.Grow and develop social media platforms as well as the enhancement of new social media trends and opportunities for the department of Athletics. Responsible for creating and implementing social media graphics through Photoshop and InDesign.5.Operate, train and direct use of video boards (Crossfire), Daktronics & Sound Director at home athletic events.6.Oversee the set-up and staging of pre-game activities, specifically football tailgate and associated activities.7.Develop and implement comprehensive plan for group ticket sales, targeting groups within a 50-mile radius of the University with emphasis on men’s basketball group sales.8.Oversee all aspects of Junior Racers Kids Club and other selected children events. Assist with student cheering section.9.Must be available to work evenings, weekends and university breaks.10.Other duties as assigned by the Associate Athletic Director and Director of Marketing and Promotions.
Bachelor’s degree; experience in related field (marketing, sales, public relations); demonstrate ability to coordinate and manage multiple groups for game management activities; experience with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop and InDesign.
