The national corporate programs team is the central unit through which high quality, consistent corporate fundraising materials are created that reflect the organization’s fundable strategic opportunities. It is also the primary office though which corporate strategy is developed to maximize fundraising locally, regionally, and nationally.
The Cause Marketing Officer is responsible for building cause marketing strategy and packages, evaluating, developing and/or implementing cause marketing partnerships, leading the creation of new business development strategies for associations and other third-parties to maximize revenue, and sports strategy. This position will work closely with the fundraisers to activate partnerships.
Collaborates with the Manager to develop the cause marketing strategy and executes the strategy by working directly with the fundraisers. Develops resources and training programs, and provides support for the Red Cross fundraisers regarding corporate cause marketing campaigns. Provides activation support, working closely with the fundraisers, to maximize the fundraising opportunity, execute consumer fundraising tactics, and ensure donor satisfaction. This includes for episodic fundraising campaigns. Creates customized concepts and proposals to secure revenue and visibility from corporate donors. Coordinates the implementation of cause marketing platforms like the Holiday Campaign. Collaborates internally with other departments like the Office of General Counsel, Marketing and Communications to execute cause marketing efforts. Manages contract negotiations for cause marketing partnerships. Reviews and analyzes programs regularly to ensure goals and objectives are met. Maintains, implements and evaluates cause marketing and sponsorship offerings and develop new activities, including creation of accompanying marketing materials and resources. Creates effective communications plan and training program. Serves as organizational expert on cause marketing. Provides guidance to senior management regarding the setting of strategies and objectives for this program.
PRINCIPAL RELATIONSHIPS: Regular and significant contact with Divisional Development teams, Marketing, Communications, and other national Development offices at the American Red Cross.
Job level is determined by budgeted revenue range and amount of job complexity.

Education: Bachelor’s degree required
Experience: A minimum of five years experience working for a nonprofit organization or in public relations, marketing, sales, communication or project management. Corporate fundraising or cause marketing experience required. Experience coordinating projects in a large organization helpful.
Related Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills, including strong presentation skills. Excellent planning and organizational skills, including attention to detail and data management. Strong customer service orientation is necessary. Demonstrated ability to work well within a team. Demonstrated initiative and ability to handle deadlines, pressure and changing priorities with good judgment.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office is necessary and experience with a donor management system (like Raiser’s Edge) is highly preferred. Operational flexibility to meet sudden and unpredictable business needs, willingness to work outside standard established business hours, and 25% of business travel are required.
